Except as\u00a0noted\u00a0below, proposals will be\u00a0reviewed based solely on\u00a0extended abstracts (generally 2-4 pages describing thee work to be presented, possibly including specific information relevant to certain types of presentations). Submitters are expected to include sufficient information in\u00a0their extended abstracts to permit reviewers to judge the appropriateness and quality of submissions.\u00a0Unless noted specifically below, there are no particular format requirements for extended abstracts.\u00a0For technical papers and panels, the Technical Program Committee will make the final assignment of accepted proposals to one of the four\u00a0parallel technical tracks, but submitters will have an\u00a0opportunity to\u00a0indicate their preferred\u00a0tracks.<\/p>

Accepted technical papers will be included in the proceedings and presented orally in parallel track sessions (25 minutes for presentation including Q&A). Except for student technical papers, the\u00a0deadline for submissions in the form of extended abstracts (2-4 pages) has been extended to February 20, 2019 \u00a0at\u00a0<\/span>11:59 PM Anywhere on Earth<\/span>\u00a0(<\/span>originally due\u00a0<\/span>February 13, 2019<\/span>)<\/span>. Authors of proposals selected as finalists will be invited to submit full manuscripts (5-8 pages using the ACM sigconf template) by\u00a0April 10, 2019\u00a0for final review and selection. Technical paper proposals that are not accepted for oral presentation at PEARC19 will automatically be considered as poster presentations without further action by the submitters.<\/p>

Accepted posters will be presented in a poster session at PEARC19, and extended abstracts will be included in the proceedings. The maximum presentation space for posters is 3.5 ft (1.1 m) wide by 4 ft (1.2 m) tall. Proposals should be extended abstracts (2-4 pages) that describe the work to be presented. Proposers are also encouraged to include a preliminary mockup of the poster presentation. PEARC19 will include a visualization showcase session in which visualizations and visualization-associated research projects will be presented. Proposals should be extended abstracts (2-4 pages) that describe the visualization and, as appropriate, the data, the computational application that generated the data, and any special or novel visualization techniques, tools, or software developed or used. Additionally, for ongoing visualization-associated research projects, the goals, progress, and findings to date should be described.\u00a0\u00a0Interactive visualization submissions are also encouraged, and abstracts should describe demonstration requirements.\u00a0\u00a0 Submissions should provide a link to a (possibly preliminary) version of the visual content to be presented, in a form ready for viewing, downloading or running by reviewers. The conference will provide a 55-inch monitor for display, or space for an interactive visualization, but submitters should not assume the availability of special computing or networking capability. All visualizations will be loaded on a conference computer (preferably using a USB drive) for presentation in the showcase. Tutorials provide participants with in-depth training in the use, facilitation, or operation of research computing and data resources and services. Tutorials should emphasize hands-on, practical content over lecture content and specify their target audience as Introductory, Intermediate, or Advanced in the proposed topic. Tutorial sessions will be scheduled in\u00a01.5 hour\u00a0blocks with morning and afternoon breaks and lunch provided by the conference. Tutorials may be proposed for full-day (four blocks), three-quarter day (three blocks, with limited availability), or half-day (two blocks). Proposals will be selected with a preference for submissions that inspire deep and interactive dialogue on important topics within the research computing and data communities. Workshops may be proposed for full-day (four blocks), three-quarter day (three blocks, with limited availability), or half-day (two blocks). As a venue that brings together representatives from across a wide range of communities, PEARC19 welcomes external groups and programs that want to host events and meetings during the conference. Short meetings may be accommodated during lunches or breaks in the Technical Program. Proposals should identify the hosting group and a primary point of contact for logistical questions, describe the purpose of the meeting (and whether it is open or closed to general attendees), and explain its alignment with the PEARC19 conference goals. In addition, proposals should estimate the anticipated number of attendees and provide information about the preferred scheduling and any special room requirements. Groups taking advantage of this opportunity are expected to have their attendees register for the conference and reserve hotel rooms through the hotel block. Costs for extra food or specialized room setups (including AV) will be borne by the group.\u00a0NOTE:\u00a0Special Events requiring significant space or time, or of significant importance to PEARC19 attendees should submit proposals by the\u00a0Priority Deadline,\u00a0March 6, 2019\u00a0for highest consideration. PEARC19 will offer a dynamic student program designed to bring together a broad and\u00a0a diverse group of researchers, students, and prospective users including significant participation from under-represented groups and new disciplines. The student program will provide students with a range of opportunities to participate in both student activities and the full technical program so that they may share their research efforts and gain insights and inspiration from like-minded individuals at the conference. Student submissions are strongly encouraged by the Technical Program Committee. All student submissions should follow the general submission instructions above and clearly indicate their relevance to advanced research computing.
